Research on Murders in Post-war Kosovo

In order to learn more about the crime of murder in Kosovo, KLC recruited professional staff and law faculty students (young researchers) to undertake a comprehensive study of murders that have taken place in post-war Kosovo. Data on murders was collected from the criminal registry offices and criminal cases of the five district courts of Kosovo (Peja/Pec, Prishtina/Priština, Prizren, Gjilan/Gnjilane, Mitrovice/Mitrovica).

Researchers examined each case of murder to attempt to discern the motive for the crime, the manner in which the crime was committed, causes and consequences of the crime, as well as the judicial and sentencing processes surrounding the case. The result of this research be presented in a forthcoming research paper and public information booklet.
